Rebuilding an industrial ERP around faster everyday workflows

Introduction
CVTI is an industrial refrigeration company that relied on Gandara, a legacy desktop ERP their teams found frustrating to use and difficult to extend without paying for additional features.
Piman was brought in to build a web-based replacement covering clients, projects, quotes, worksites, orders and financial workflows.
I designed the product alongside our Digital Project Manager, working directly with CVTI's Directeur Service Travaux (Head of Operations) and the developer implementing the platform.
The Problem
Gandara supported CVTI’s day-to-day operations, but the experience was cumbersome and the company had limited control over how the product evolved.
CVTI wanted a system tailored to the way their teams actually worked, with fewer unnecessary steps and faster everyday tasks.
Through regular calls with CVTI’s Head of the Works Department, we reviewed their workflows, identified what was worth keeping from Gandara and where the experience could be simplified.
Solution
Designing around real workflows
The Digital Project Manager led the functional requirements, while we worked together to translate them into clear product flows and interfaces.
CVTI reviewed the work frequently, so designs went through several rounds of feedback before approval.
Simplifying a complex quote workflow
Quotes were one of the most detailed parts of the product. The workflow needed to support pricing, margins, quantities, labour, grouped items and multiple quote versions without becoming difficult to navigate.
I kept the concepts CVTI already understood while reorganising the information and actions into a clearer web experience.
Building consistency across the ERP
The same patterns were carried across clients, projects, worksites, orders and financial information so users could move between different areas without relearning the interface.
I created the visual direction from scratch, using CVTI’s existing brand colours as a light reference, and worked closely with the developer throughout implementation.
Results
The designs were reviewed and approved by CVTI and implemented in close collaboration with the developer.
The resulting web-based ERP was built around CVTI’s own workflows, giving the company more control over how the product could evolve.
