Rebuilding a complex HR platform without breaking familiar workflows

Introduction
SIRH is Piman Group’s internal HR and accounting platform, used by HR teams, accountants, managers and employees. It was built to replace Simus, an old third-party system that cost the company around €50,000 a year.
This was my first project at Piman. I owned the design from the beginning, working directly with the manager, developers and the teams who used Simus every day.
The Problem
Simus did the job, but its interface was old, dense and difficult to navigate. Everyday tasks often meant working through large tables, crowded forms and legacy navigation, which made already complex HR and accounting processes slower to complete.
At the same time, employees had used Simus for years and understood its workflows and terminology. We couldn’t simply redesign everything based on what looked cleaner.
I joined recurring sessions with accountants and HR staff to understand how they worked, what frustrated them, what needed to stay familiar and the technical rules behind their processes.
Solution
Keeping the workflow, changing the experience
I kept the underlying business logic people already understood, while reorganising the interface around clearer navigation, stronger hierarchy and more consistent actions.
Making complex forms easier to work through
Long HR processes were broken into clearer sections and steps instead of presenting everything at once. The product still needed to support complex information such as employee records, trial periods, interviews, training, medical visits and departures, but the interface made that complexity easier to navigate.
Bringing consistency to dense business tools
The same patterns were carried into data-heavy areas such as employee management, accounting settings, currencies and invoicing, so users did not have to relearn the interface each time they moved to a different part of the product.
Results
SIRH was built to replace Simus internally and give Piman its own HR and accounting platform.
The new experience reduced unnecessary steps and introduced more consistent patterns across forms, tables and navigation, making everyday tasks easier to learn and complete.
